hands & feet

HANDS

The wrist of the hand is made of 8 small bones in two irregular rows that connect with gliding joints. There are 5 metacarpals-sound extend from the carpus, covered with skin, that forms the palm. The rest of the hand holds the phalanges (fingers). Each finger has three phalanges, except the thumb which has two. Each hand has 27 separate bones.

FEET

The foot has 26 bones, one less than in the hand. The bones in the toes are shorter and fatter than the bones in the fingers. They help us to balance on two feet. There are seven bones in the ankle they are called tarsal bones. The main part of the foot is made of metatarsal bones.

If you really think about our hands and feet are very similar... they just have different jobs to do.
