Fractures
A fracture is when too much force is applied to a bone, causing it to break. Fractures are common in children due to both their rough nature and their weaker bones that are still developing. A fracture is usually fixed with a cast. A cast is something that immobilizes a limb so that the bone does not move, otherwise the bone would not heal in its correct form and could be tilted or twisted, this is called malunion. Other, more serious fractures such as a comminuted fractures (a fracture that breaks into multiple pieces) may be fixed by applying a titanium or steel plate, after removing the smaller pieces of bone, and then applying a cast.
