Natural Time Keeping

Your body has cycles that repeat, usually, at a set time, such as sleeping and eating. Quite recently, a section of the brain called the SCN, or Suprachiasmatic Nucleus, has been discovered to keep track of time and is the command center for coordinating circadian rhythms, or cycles, that determine the crucial timing of processes like hormone release, sleeping, and metabolism.
Neuroscientists are trying to figure out how and why the cells in the SCN act the way the do, especially because knowledge about the subject can lead to more effective therapies for sleep disorders such as insomia and narcolepsy.
