Memory and Attention Problems May Follow Preemies Into Adulthood

Babies are born everyday, but did you know babies born with smaller birth weights may be impacted to have memory and attention problems as they grow into adulthood. Early babies that come out early, their memory and visual memory may become very poor as they muture into adults. The study has never been proven until, Professer Katri Raikkonen, PhD of the University of Helsinki in Finland reported 103 adults born with a low birth weight(less than 3.3 pounds)and then 105 adults weighed with a normal weight average particiate in a thinking and skill test. According to the scores the study found that adults with low birth rate weight scroed lower or performed at a slower pace to the general intelligence. Reserchers also found those with low birth weight are more likley to have recieved remedical education while in school, but still had educational issues. For example the people with low birth weights scored an average 8.4(0.57 standard deviation units) lower on the full IQ test and 0.30-0.54 standard deviation units lower on the executive functioning and attention and memory test.
