busting an eardrum

We all have ears, they help us hear. There is a thin membrane called your eardrum. Did you know that your eardrum can burst?! Since it is so thin, sharp things can puncture it very easily. So don't go sticking a knife or sharp pencil in there! The ear canal is only 2.5 cm long...that's not very long!...and the eardrum is right behind that.So if you're cleaning your ears don't go back too far or you might bust your eardrum! You can also burst your eardrum by having an ear infection. What if my eardrum bursts? Well, if it is a small tear it will close on its own. But if the tear is big, there might be ear fluid coming out, and you may have ear infections, you will have to go get it surgically closed.
