your stomach

Once chewed food is swallowed it goes down to you stomach where high pH levels digest the food. This acid is secreted fro cells that line the wall of the stomach. Several of these enzymes dont do anything until they are exposed to the acidy condition that is found in the stomach. As the stomach contracts, it pushes soft foods back and forth while the enzymes break it down into smaller pieces. The semi-solid, partly broken down food mass, now referred to as “chyme”, passes through the pyloric sphincter and enters the first segment of the small intestine, the duodenum.
I never knew how your stomach worked! Now, next time I eat, i will know what is going on.
