Fingernails

Everyone's fingernails are different. If you look at your nails you may notice that they have a certain texture or color or bumps along the surface. These details may not seem like a big deal to you but believe it or not, your fingernails can tell a lot about your body and it is important that you keep them healthy. In order to keep your fingertips healthy you want to avoid getting infections. To help prevent that you can:

  • keep your nails clean and dry.

  • Do NOT bite or pick at your nails

  • moisturize your cuticles everyday

  • when you file your nails round them at the tip slightly instead of to a point

  • do not clean TOO deeply under your nails

  • don’t dig out your ingrown nails-contact a dermatologist if they become irritating

  • eat healthily and take vitamins

Your fingernails can say so much about your body. For example, if your nails have a blueish tint to them, you may not be getting enough oxygen in your lungs and should contact a doctor. I think that this information is useful and helpful in the sense that it is a new way to look at something and it is another way to always check the health of your body.
