Fossils that belong to a previously unknown type of human have been found in caves in China. The skeletons posses an unusual mix of traits from ancient and modern humans, unique features include: “a strongly curved forehead bone, very broad nose and eye sockets, and very flat cheeks that flare widely to the sides to make space for large chewing muscles. Also the place where the lower jaw forms a joint with the base of the skull is unusually wide and deep.” The people who discovered the fossils found them in the Red Dear Caves and named them Read Dear Cave People. The RDCP lived between 11,500 and 14,500 years ago, right near the end of the ice age, they might have even lived at the same time as Chinese people became farmers.
This effects everyone who studies human evolution and might lead to discovering the trail of human evolution leading up to modern humans.
