Obesity

First off, let's start with the statistics of obesity. In the past 20 years, from 1985 to 2010, there has been a dramatic increase of obesity in the United States. Since the years 2010, there have been no states that have an obesity prevelance of less than 20%. 36 states had a prevalence of 25% or more; and 12 of those states had a prevalence of 30% or more. This adds up to 33.8% of obese adults, and 17% of children and adolescents (aged 2-19) are obese. These numbers, in my opinion, are quite sad.
Obesity is mainly caused by both over eating and decreased physical activity. Cheap, high calorie, foods are practically passed out due to fast food restaurants, soda/drink machines, and even schools, although schools and fast food restaurants are serving "healthy" foods such as salad and fruit juice. Obesity is literally the most simple disease to cure; stop eating.
The saddest part about obesity, other than it can so easily be cured, is that the number of obese people in the world OUTNUMBERS the amount of malnourished, or starving, by 200,000,000 people. There are a little over 1 billion obese people in the world, and 8oo,000,000 starving people in the world. This is probably the most pathetic statistic I've seen in human history. How is it possible that we have been able to supply the amount of food to make over 1 billion people overweight, yet haven't been able to supply the malnourished with plentiful nutrients? Granted, a vast amount of malnourished people are located in Africa, which is a very difficult place to bring food and supplies due to their own government issues, but still I see that as no excuse for this large obesity rate.
I apologize for the aggravation in this blog, but I just wanted to get my point across.
