Eye Muscles
Eyes have 7 different muscles including: outside the eye known as the extraocular muscles. The movement of the upper eyelid is from the muscle called levator palpebrae superioris. .The other six e muscles move the eyeball in different directions. In the Article it says that in the eye socket human eye muscles can not be easily inspected, any one muscle's movement changes the tension and length of the other muscles of eye, and they work together and not in isolation. When the head and neck also moves and affects the movement of the eye muscles. All these things make it difficult to say what exactly is the action of each one of these muscles but following generalizations may be made - The six muscles that move the eyeball are the four recti and two obliques - Lateral rectus - moves the eye outward, away from the noseMedial rectus - moves the eye toward the nose Superior rectus - moves the eye upward Inferior rectus - moves the eye downward Superior oblique -has several actions on the eye , but primarily causes the eye to twist outward. Knowing this information helps others know that eyes have muscles and especially for me not knowing that I find it very interseting and hopefully others do to.
