Indoor tanning has been increasing over the past few years and a new study will do nothing to tone it down. Indoor tanners are an estimate of 70% more likely to develop skin cancer before their 40th birthday. The most common type of skin cancer, basal cell carcinoma, is usually not lethal but can be disfiguring. Many studies have linked tanning beds and indoor tanning to melanoma, a potentially fatal form of skin cancer. "As many as 28 million people use indoor tanning beds each year, according to the Indoor Tanning Association." "Growing numbers of people younger than 40 -- especially women -- have developed basal cell skin cancer in recent years."
People, especially in Arizona, should wear sunscreen and be protected at all times. During summer it can be really hot and the sun will be really strong. To avoid the heat and still get a good tan people basically risk their lives and bodies by using tanning beds. Therefore they have a greater risk of cancer especially if they also go out and do things in the sun.
