Colored Cosmetic Contact Lenses: An Unsafe Trend in the Younger Generation. As colored contacts become more popular with teens the number of sever eye infections also go up. With how forgetful teens can be some even through away the expensive contacts and when they realize this they dig them out and put the right back in, leading to very sever eye infections that could easily be avoided with a little common sense. The most common infection is severe infectious keratitis, that all out of the 13 patients developed, but others were caught as well. The cause of all these eye infections is a gross mishandling of the contacts, absolutely NONE of the safety guidelines were followed by these patients, causing them great pain, lost them a lot of money, and maybe even their vision. If they just followed the guidelines this could have been avoided. This affects everyone with contacts and all those stupid teens who want colored contacts but aren’t responsible enough for them.
