The Smaller, the Better

William Murphy (profession not given) uses some of the most technologically advanced tools in biology, and he thinks about creating tools that work in conjunction with each other. The concept is similar to a socket wrench; it can be assembled in a way so it can loosen a half inch bolt in very tight quarters, or it can be used to remove a very rusty bolt. Murphy is referring to specific proteins that stimulate bone, cartilage, and blood vessel growth. These proteins would be used to connect two ends of a broken bone together, instead of inserting a metal bolt. However, these proteins have often been too effective, or not effective enough, and commonly resulting in cancer instead of a controlled growth. This can be very beneficial in healing serious bone fractures, facial reconstructions, or defects caused by spinal infusions.
